I'm looking for an add-in that would allow the presenter to see a different
view of their slides - from that which is 'projected' on an external
display.  Specifically, I'm looking for an add-in that could display the
next slide [at least] as, say, a thumbnail on the presenter's display.

If such an add-in doesn't exist, could someone please point me to any
developer resources that might shed some light on how such an add-in might
be written - if indeed it is possible?

Many thanks

Pemo,
If you have multi monitor capability:

Or this add-in might be just the thing you are after:
