So my slide preview on the left of the screen is no problem, but when I clikc
on a slide, my photos/background aren't showing up.  Only text.
I can move the invisible pictures around, but they will not show up in color.
I tried switching settings to 'color', but they were already like that.

So when you go to View|Color/Grayscale and choose Color, the problem still
persists?

In that case, it may be that you've got High Contrast turned on in Windows
somehow. Go to Start|Control Panel and choose Accessibility Options and go
to the Display tab. Make sure you don't have "use High Contrast" ticked.

And if you're using PPT 2003, it could also be that you need to install the
latest service pack. In PPT, go to Help|Check for Updates and install SP2
for Office 2003. This resolves many "missing pictures" problems.

It could also indicate a need to turn down hardware acceleration and update
video drivers, but I think the first two things mentioned above are more
likely. Just in case, though,
