how do I change a file from read only?

Depends why it's read only!

If its on a CD ROM then you need to drag it onto your hard drive
If it's passworded (it will tell you) then unless you know the password ....
Otherwise right click the icon for the file and > properties - untick the
"read only" box

Did that answer the question / help?

In Windows Explorer uncheck read-only in properties of the file.
