Why doesn't the file button work?

When I click on the FILE button, the arrow changes to the hourglass and then
the list just flashes and is gone. What is wrong?

You don't mention which version of Office/PPT you use, but if possible, start
it up, choose Help, Detect and Repair and let that run its course.

I have the Office 2003 Student-Teacher edition. What you wrote seems to have
cured the problem. Thank you, Andy
