I'm trying to import .avi files into Producer.  Althought I am able to import
and add it to the timeline, when I preview the clip, the voice-recording
comes up scrambled.  Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

The general consensus is that avi files do not work well in Producer (not
sure why -- non standard files, codecs ?)

The best strategy is often to convert the avi files to wmv files -- the
Windows Media Encoder will do that --

I converted the files to .wmv format but now I'm getting a runtime error when
I try to insert the files into Producer. The error reads:

The instruction at "0x1d1cc96d" referenced memory at "0x097b6000".  The
memory could not be "written".

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

Do you have any other thoughts on this?

Thanks,
-Han

Do these files (avi and wmv) play without incident in the media player?

Yes, both the avi and wmv files play fine using the windows media player.  Is
there anything else I can try?

Thanks,

I can't think of anything  -- I presume you are using one of the default
templates (not that it should really make any difference).

Can you put one of the files somewhere where it can be downloaded? If you
can I will give it a try to see if I get the some error (and maybe poke
around to see if I can spot anything).
