What do I need accent for in my colour scheme?!

Can anyone tell me what I need "accent" for in my colour scheme?! I do know
the purpose of "accent and hyperlink" and "accent and followed hyperlink" at
least in the context of hyperlink. I just cannot figure out what accent is
for. All my research has shown is that I can set it as colour for one of the
columns in my chart...great, is that all?

Sadly, I can neither find any answer to that in my 650 pages Microsoft Guide
book nor in the help funktion.

Do you know what it is for?

Nicole,
The accent color in the color scheme is used for anything you want to
assign it to, fills, lines, text whatever. In fact the other two accent
colors are too. Although they are primarily used for hyperlinks.
And yes, they play an important role in the chart colors of MS Graph:
