I have an mpg that needs to play in Powerpoint. When it is inserted into
Powerpoint and the slideshow is started the mpg will play, but not before a
flash of black screen happens, as if there were a black frame in the video,
but there is not. The video plays fine in media player. Has any one come
accross this problem? And if so how does one go about fixing it?

I am not privy to the inside workings of PowerPoint, but I suspect that the
black box you see is the loading of the video file and video player.  You
see PowerPoint does not play these itself, it hands that task off to the
operating system, which hands it off to the default video player, and so
on...

I do not think this can be eliminated on the initial play.
