I opened a PowerPoint template and when I drew objects, the objects
automatically had a fill and transparency.

Where are these settings and how can I turn them off?

Thanks.

The default shape fill and line is normally set buy right clicking a shape >
set autoshape defaults OR from format > autoshape and ticking "default for
new shapes"

of PowerPoint  97 and 02 would create these sort of problems in 2003.
