Powerpoint works but a downloaded / emailed powerpoint slide show will not
run even if I open powerpoint first and then select the file. The slide show
starts i the tool bar at the botttom of the desktop but will not actually run
the file. Powerpont shows the file in individual slides and need to click on
each slide to see contents.
How to correct?

Mike,
Have a look if this helps:
http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00355.htm
If not also check if PPT is set to the primary monitor:
Slide Show - Set up Show - Display on Primary Monitor

Have a quick check that the slide show is set to play "on primary monitor" in
slide show > set up show and also that "all slides" is selected

Hi Mike,
I found out through several attempts that I needed to right click on the
file I wanted to see, save it to my documents and once there, right click on
it again to open. Wa Lah!! The viewer kicked in.
