how can i encrypt a powerpoint file?

How can i adjust a powerpoint presentation to that when someone else opens
it, it directly shows him/her a slide show and they will not be able to
adjust the original slides?

Also i can not encrypt the powerpoint file, why is that?

1. in tools > options > security set a modify password (XP onwards only)
2. save as > save as type powerpoint show
