Hello I have a faily simple question. Is there a version of Power point that
can be used for Student for class projects that can be downloaded.

Do you mean downloaded as in free? Not really, however there is a student
version that has a much lower price.

One option could be to use something like zoho, ThinkFree (both online tools)
or Open Office to create your presentation - making sure that you save it as
.ppt.
Zoho & ThinkFree would have the advantage that you could all work on the
(same) presentation in your own time - without having to email different
versions round.
Open office would have the advantage that once you've downloaded it, you
don't have to be online to use it.
