how do I open a file that ends in .pps after downloading

Please advise how to open a file ending in .pps - do I need to download
something from Powerepoint homepage, if so which bit.  many thanks

Do you have PowerPoint on your machine?
If not you will need to download the free viewer which you will find here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=428d5727-43ab-4f24-90b7

If you mean you would like to edit a pps with PowerPoint that you have
installed then open powerpoint and file open > navigate to the pps file OR
right click the icon and choose "new"
