Everytime I spend time changing certain fonts that reside in my font list, I
save and close Powerpoint. Then when I open the file, those certai fonts
change back to times. I know those font I choose are valid beaucse I use them
in every other sapplication on my computer, and they show and print out fine.

Not quite sure I understand what you're saying -- you're selecting an object
or textbox on your slide, then going to the font dropdown list and choosing
another font, right? Then when you save the presentation -- or save, close,
and reopen it, the fonts have reverted back to Times.
Do I have this correct?
If so, see
Text size or other formatting is lost when you save, close, and reopen a
presentation

You have it right.
I make some fonts "eurostyle extended bold". I hit save. I close the
powepoint.
I then open the powerpoint, and text with this font" changes back to "Times
Roman".
Makes no sense! The font is not corrupt. Font works in photoshop, quark,
notepad... anything.
font appears fine UNTIL I re-open the file.
