(Faithful) Exporting to PDFs

Can I export PowerPoint slides to PDFs, while preserving the fine-grained
"layered appearances" of the elements on each slide? That is, there should
be a new PDF page each time an element appears (triggered by a mouse-
click).

(PDFs also support layered appearances, plus tons of advanced features -
you can get fading, animations, movies, etc. - but at the moment, I don't
need these features, and layered appearances can be emulated by generating
extra PDF pages as described above.)

If no native capabilities, any recommendations (preferably free) third-
party software to do this? Thanks!

I saw on some MS Office blog post from 05 that the devs were working
hard on such a feature - but I can't seem to find it, at least not in
PP.

As far as I know, Adobe Acrobat 7 or higher is the only software that supports
this in PDF.

I had Acrobat 7 installed already (before installing Office 07). Should
I reinstall it?

Ah.  You didn't mention PowerPoint 2007.  Acrobat 7 isn't supported as
compatible with Office 2007;  I'm not certain that 8 is, but I think Adobe's
planning an update to it that will make it compatible.

It doesn't sound like there's a good way of doing what you're after just yet.
