When i run a presentation in slide show, if i leave it on the screen and it
is in active for 3 minutes the main power point program will overide the
show. The show does not close, but power point will appear.

This is probably not a PowerPoint issue.

I would start by checking what programs are regularly grabbing focus (even
if only for a moment).  It is possible that you have an application or
program running in the background that takes 5 minute naps, then checks
something and if not needed goes back to sleep.  If that program grabs the
Windows focus away from PowerPoint's Slideshow, it would do exactly what you
are experiencing.

Are you running in a managed environment (business IT supported)?

Hi Bill

Thank you for taking the time to help me, this runs on a business laptop
that belongs to a domain however is used as a standalone.

I am now wandering wether the Anti virus is trying to go online to update or
maybe the wireless assistant is roaming for networks.

I will try turning some apps on and off to see if it helps and post back soon

Thanks

Les
