I am trying to format my PowerPoint notes in order that the text be "hanging"
for a better visual appreciation. Hanging is the option from MSWord included
for pharagraphs.

gospel, you need to change it on the Notes Master.  Make sure the ruler is
showing.  Then drag the bottom of the margin/paragraph thingee (I have no
idea of it's name) over two marks.  That will give you a .25 hanging indent.
You have to do this for each bullet style you have.  I wish I could think of
the name of that thing - but its the same thing you use in Word.
