my movie clip disappears in powerpoint when I click on it

I inserted a movie clip in powerpoint 2003 and everytime I click on it to
play it disappears.  The clip plays in windows media player.

Sounds like the MCI player (used in PPT) is using the wrong codec for
playback.  You might want to look at the tutorial here:
