Hi Ann

Where will you be doing this presentation and do they have their own
equipment? If they do they should be able to help you set it up and show you
what to do. If they don't you will need to hire some and whoever you hire it
from should be able to give you a quick 10 minutes on how to set it up (it's
honestly not that comlicated).

You will need to take the presentation with you (you could e-mail it if they
have their own equipment but I like to take my own copy too just in case) so
package for CD is a good idea (particularly if there is any music or videos
in the pres).

So, projecting. The projector is just like a monitor really so nothing to be
scared of :-) Once it is plugged into the laptop and everything is turned on
you will probably need to tell the laptop that it has a projector attached. A
lot of this depends on make/models but generally speaking the laptop will
cycle through 3 modes: just on laptop, just on projector, showing on both
(the one you want). Generally you tell the laptop this through one of the 'F'
buttons and the 'Function' key - I have a Dell and I press the blue FN button
and F8 together (F8 key says CRT/LCD in blue - pressing the blue FN key makes
it do anything written in blue on the keyboard & CRT/LCD are two different
sorts of monitor). It may be different for you depending on make of laptop.
Sometimes instead of CRT/LCD it may have a symbol a bit like: lol to
represent monitor/projector. Also give it a chance to react - don't just keep
pressing the button :-)

Once all that is working, open your presentation and press F5 to launch. The
projector may have a remote control you can use to navigate through your
presentation or you can use various buttons on the laptop - press F1 while in
presentation mode to see what these are (I advise you to do that while in the
comfort of your own home/office rather than when you are there!)

Hmmm. That all sounds a lot more complicated than it actually is. Honest.
