Hi, Using PowerPoint 2007, whenever I try to create a PDF using Notes View
and in grayscale, the results are all blank pages. A PDF is created, but
every page is blank. I've tried this with several different types of
presentations, and asked our MIS department to try it also. All have the same
result. I can't use the PDF plug in because it doesn't allow a grayscale
selection. All of these files convert fine using PowerPoint 2003.

Ah.  I see you've found the right group.  Good.

See my reply to your post in the Mac section then post back here if you would.
Thanks.

It's Windows XP. I'm not using the MS plug-in because it doesn't give
grayscale as an option. I'm using Distiller 8. I've varied the ppt from a
single slide to 100, from simple to complex. I've tried using 3 or 4
different types of postscript printers, including the PDF printer. Several
other people here have tried with the same results.  All work in 2003 and
2000, none in 2007. The problem only occurs when I am using Notes View in
grayscale, which is a necessity for my job. I can do PDFs of  slides in
grayscale, and Notes View in color. Am I alone with this problem?

Thanks

I'm not able to test this directly because I don't have Acrobat on the text box
where I have 2007 installed, but I was able to produce b/w handouts like so:

File, Print

Select a b/w PS printer driver (I happen to have an HP 1320 but it shouldn't
matter a great deal).

That should default the print dialog to grayscale but override it if not.

Set any other desired options

Put a check next to "To File" and print.

Use Distiller to process the resulting file (if you make sure it has a PS
extension, Distiller should automatically fire up when you doubleclick the PS
file).

Here it gives grayscale PDFs with both JAWs PDF Creator and Distiller 7.

Note: don't choose Distiller and To File.  That's a good way to make your
computer unhappy.

Are you choosing grayscale in the PPT print dialog or in the Acrobat
Distiller properties?
