In PPT2003 I use an addin called colorpicker from PPTxtreme.
http://www.pptxtreme.com/
Basically it allows you to pick the color off any place on the slide (or
screen for that matter), and apply that color to an object.
For example, picking "Coke-red" or "Bellsouth-blue" from a JPEG and applying
it to a box, so the box is the exact same colpr as the logo.
This add-in doesn't seem to work in PPT2007. Does anyone know a way to
accomplish this...perhaps there is some new functionality in PPT2007 I'm
overlooking?

Hi Joe,
give Pixie a try. It can be downloaded for free from
http://www.nattyware.com. It is a very small program that shows RGB (and
HTML, and CMYK, ...) values of the current cursor position. Which you can
then enter into PowerPoints color dialog.
I am already using it in a Vista + Office 2007 environment and had no
problems thus far.
Best regards,
Ute

Less automatic, but free:
http://www.nattyware.com/pixie.html
It gives you the RGB values; you have to transfer them to PPT.
And a GREAT quote from the guy who apparently wrote the code that makes Pixie
work:
"A great UI is one that allows user to remove and hide whatever UI designers
believe to be a great UI."

Joe, did you get in touch with the pptxtreme folks, and ask them about this?

Thanks you all for your helpful suggestions. I sent inquiries to the
PPTextreme support but haven't received any word...I did notice thier website
looks a bit dated, as there is not even a mention of PPT2007. So I am
thinking they may no longer be active in development.
I guess I'll continue to stick with PPT2003 for heavy duty production, as I
have many add-in tools that I find indispensable. Not to mention a
customized set of menus - impossible to duplicate in PPT2007 unfortunately.

Joe,
For your customization needs with PPT 2007, check into the Ribbon Customizer
from Patrick Schmid (a OneNote MVP). You can find info about it here:
