I am attempting to run a powerpoint presentation and the image is too large
going through the projector, how do I resize the projection so it appears at
regular size instead of too large?

You don't do anything in PPT to solve this, generally.
More likely it's a mismatch between your computer's video and the projector's
max resolution.

Try resetting the computer to 1024x768
