If I create new slides, they work fine. I've given up and have started creating all new slides. I have created new slides in the template and they are fine. Only the slides that were in the original template are giving me trouble. I've exhausted my research capabilities and am giving up. I'm just creating all new slides. Format | Slide Layout. You should get the "click to add" placeholders, then, and you can copy/paste the text into the placeholders.
