I am copying data from word into power point slides. In power point I want
the font (60 pt) to be on each slide. My sample slide is made the way I want
it and I duplicated it several times but when I transfer from word to pp it
reverts back to font (40). How can I keep this the same?
Set the 60 point size on the placeholder on the slide master. (You can
adjust its size and placement and remove the bullets if necessary.)
Then paste the text into the placeholder. Finally, reapply the slide layout
(Format | Slide Layout).

I set the text box to 60 but when I cut and paste is still reverts back to 40!

Did you reapply the slide layout as mentioned in the original reply?
