Only WAV files can be embedded into PowerPoint presentations. You have to
send the MIDI file separately.

MIDI files can only be linked other than embedded in PowerPoint, so
you have to email your pp show with external midi files together.

Actually, emailing a presentation with rich-media has other solutions.
For example, you can convert your PowerPoint to Flash movie or other
video files with all media embedded and email the output files.

my recommendation: http://www.sameshow.com

Have fun :)

Flash is NOT the solution to every problem in this world.  WinZip is a lot
cheaper than your product, and the files are still editable when unzipped by
the recipient.

MIDI file can't be embedded in PowerPoint presentations, only WAV file

there are 2 ways to solve your problem:
1. convert MIDI file to WAV file

2. convert your powerpoint presentation file to video, flash or animated GIF

Ruth, save yourself a lot of headaches and try the free PFCExpress add-in
for PowerPoint.  It was designed for this very situation and costs
absolutely nothing.  You can download a copy from:
