Distorted Content from Office 2007 - 24 Jul 2007 18:48 GMT

I just bought Office 2007 and when I create powerpoint slides and send it to
friends as an Office 2003 file, the formating is off. The font sizes in
Office 2007 could be small, but when opening in older versions, they are huge
and go off the slides. Also, boxes are missplaced. What should look the
same is somehow completely distorted. I'm wondering if I should just revert
back to Office 2003. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Do you use one of the new fonts that are installed with Office 2007? The
(white) Office template uses Calibri as a standard font. If your friends
have neither Office 2007 nor the PowerPoint Viewer 2007 nor the
Compatibility Pack nor Vista installed, Calibri is not installed on their
machines and is substituted by any font, which Office considers "similar",
but which produces different results and sizes. Use Arial or Time New Roman
or another standard font, which will be installed on any machine.

Some new fonts, such as Calibri, or new effects, such as SmartArt, may
not work properly in earlier version of Office.
You must care about these compatibility issues.

I have a way to avoid such problems: converting to Flash or AVI video.
It can retain your original presentation with fonts and effects.
As I konw, Wondershare PPT2Flash (http://www.sameshow.com/powerpoint-
to-flash-2007.html) is the only conversion tool which supports
PowerPoint 2007. Some other tools can't really retain the new effects
in 2007, such as FlashPoint. It's worth trying.

Flash is NOT the solution to every problem. And there are more programs,
which can convert PowerPoint 2007 presentations into Flash or video, for
example TechSmith Camtasia Studio, www.techsmith.com, which offers to
produce many diffent video formats in one product and allows editing.
