i need to start a slide show on a certain slide
i dont want ot start it from the first slide cuz i have about 170 slides
before that're hyperlinked to each otehr, if i were to paste them in other
places, they would hyperlink to slides in the beginning of the show which
would be the incorrect slides
so i am going to keep the 173 slides in teh beginning
i need to start the slide show on a slide after those 173 slides
im saving it as a slide show, so it needs to start on the slide after the
173 slides
so, plz help, i really dont want to hyperlink those 173 slides again!

Hi

Re-arrange the slides in slide sorter mode - the links should be fine.
Probably work on a copy just in case...

Hi

How did it not work? Did the links break? I've just tested moving slides
about and the hyperlinks didn't break....Probably worth reading this:
http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00401.htm

One solution would be to insert a slide at the beginning, add an autoshape
over the whole thing, format it as background, hyperlink it to '1st' slide.
You could add text like 'click here to start'.

I can't see why Lucy's suggestion didn't work for you. Depending on exactly
what you are trying to do you could mayce make a custom show of all slides
from 174 and in slide show >set up show show slides = custom show. Hyperlinks
to the first slides should still work.--

i shoulve been more clear
these 173 slides are from antother powerpoint file
i had created sections of one presentaitons as different files
im planning to copy and paste the slides into the main powerpoint file
and the problem wit hte 173 slides one was that i had inserted an action,
and i chose mouse on click to hyperlink to slide 1, and such
so wen i pasted the 173 slides into the main powerpoint file, that slide
would hyperlink to the first slide
so i thought i should just leave it as the first 173 slides, cuz thts how it
was made
ill try out lucy's second suggestion now

Here's a wild shot. Try hiding the first slide and making your real first
slide the second slide. All those hyperlinks should still work to the
hidden first slide, but when you start the presentation, it should take
you to the second slide (the one you want to be first). Whether this will
work for you depends on more details of what you did.

its the same problem again wit lucy's second suggestion
even though its a great one!
the problem is that if u put even one slide in front of the 173 slides,
it'll screw up their hyperlinks
for some reason, when i copied and pasted them from a different slide, they
only hyperlink to the slide number not the slide that i designated it to
so wen i put it in, it would hyperlink to the new slide 47 or 83,etc
i need to finish this very soon!!
but i thank you guys so much with these helpful suggestions
i still need help tho!
