I'm creating a "welcome" slide.  I have a background picture and some text
that says welcome on the top half of my slide.  I want the names of the
visitors' names to scroll up the bottom half of the slide, just below
"welcome".  Currently, the names scroll up the entire slide, right in front
of my background picture.  Thanks in advance for your suggestions. --Dorci

Select the names, click Add Effect > Entrance > Crawl In.
Set the speed of your preference.
If they are in bullets and you want them to Crawl In at the same time,
double click on the added effect, click Text Animation tab, and select "As
one object" under Group text.

That almost worked, except the list stopped scrolling when the first name
reached the top of the text box.  I need it to keep scrolling until the last
name has come and gone.

With the animation in place:

Draw a shape covering the area that you do NOT want the credits to roll
over. Right click and set its fill to "backgound"

Go!

The shape didn't stop the text from scrolling right over it.

I take that back!  I had to "bring" the shape "to front", and it worked!!!
Love you guys!
