PP2007 won't load/show PPT2003 slideshow

I was just given 16-PPT files created in 2003.  I just tried to open them in
2007 (yes, I have all the latest patches) and only the first 4-opened up.  
The others start to open and then it quits loading them and comes back.
Doesn't give any error messages nor a blank slideshow. Just stops.  Some of
the larger ones (8M) do show the "progress bar" in PP2007 but only goes about
20% and then simply stops.

Tried these same files on 3-other machines with 2007. All do the same thing.

These files all open just fine in PP2003!

What gives ?

The PPTs might have macro code or OLE controls embedded and your security
settings could be set to disallow opening them because of that.

The PPTs might be corrupt in some way.  Try "round-tripping" one or two of the
problem files.  Open them in PPT 2003 then have a look here:
