I'm currently using PowerPoint 2007
With magnification to say 200% the slide will automatically return to the
central position when I delete an item from the slide (say a line or
rectangle for example)
This is obviously very annoying particularly at higher magnifications and
when working at the edges of the slide - you effectively have to go back to a
full screen view click on an object in the vicinity of the item you just
deleted and then zoom back into the area you are working on
Is there a way you can delete items without the slide automatically self
centering?
Cheers

Mort,
It's a bug, for the time being there is not much we can do about it. Let us
hope MS fixes it in the near future.

Many thanks for  the prompt response, not the answer I was hoping for but I
at least know I'm not alone in my frustration(s)

It's a bug, and it's incredibly annoying. I know I'm sure hoping it gets
fixed in a service pack or other patch.

Until then, maybe use the Selection and Visibility pane (Home | Select |
Selection Pane) to hide the objects. Then run the document inspector (Office
Button | Prepare | File Inspector) and let it delete the hidden items.

Thank you for the response, I will give the "hide the objects" work around a
crack and wait for the changes to be made to the software - hopefully
Difficult to understand how such a fundamental requirement slipped through
the review processes
Cheers and many thanks
