Does anyone know how to import an image to powerpoint so that all editing
capabilities are still possible? (ie. changing the color of an imported icon)

PowerPoint doesn't do image editing (assuming you mean bitmap/raster images
like PNG/JPG/BMP files).  Some older versions let you reassign colors in
images, but for some odd reason, that feature went away.
