I downloaded a trial version of Power Point 2007 and have extracted the files
and entered my product code but there is nothing on my desktop to open it.
What am I doing wrong?

Try looking in START > all programs for Microsoft Office see if you can start
it from there

We all do those sort of things (or maybe its just me!)

If you would like a desktop shortcut you can easily make one by going to
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12 and right click the ppt icon then
'send to desktop (shortcut)'
