Using powerpoint (XP) I've created a number of slides that use a photo
as background. (Right click slide ->background->fill effects->picture...
These slides have been saved (tried '.ppt', '.pot', '.pps'), but when I
try to insert them into another presentation, the background gets lost.
Does anyone know how to get around this problem?
Thanks for any help

If you tick "keep source format" it should work I think. (I'm assuming you
are using insert slides from files)

When you go to the Insert menu and choose Slides from file, be sure to
check the box for "Keep source formatting" on the bottom left of the
dialogue box.
