Hi, I have a text box that is clear/transparent but when I edit the text a
very annoying gray box comes out that doesn't let me see where the mouse
is... any help on how I can change this? Thanks

You can usually solve this by going to slide design > color schemes > edit
scheme and playing with the background setting. The relationship between
background and text color isn't clear (to me) but they do affect the
highlight color
