I see here how to make a change within a single slide...is there a way to
apply a desired animation effect to *all* slides globally (or even more than
one at a single time)? I find myself repeating the same actions for each
slide.

Hi embra
It depends on what you are trying to animate - if it's bulleted text (no, no
save me from the bullets!) then you can apply the animation to the
placeholder on the master (view -> slide master. Apply to the big 'mother
master' at the top).
If it something else on your slides it's not so simple I'm afraid. Animation
Carbon allows you to copy animations from one object to another & build a
library of animations. It's well worth the investment:
