how do i set up a piture transparency?

With the Emphasis animation you have Transparencie

There are two ways. JPF's suggested method which is to apply an emphasis
animation > transparancy eg 50% with previous as the first animation - gives
a great effect

OR you can draw a rectangle, right click > format shape and use a picture
fill (fill effects in 2002/2003) and the transparency slider.

Afterthought!

This is what you mean isn't it. Not for example remove a white surround from
the picture?
