Tried the /regserv thing (with UAC off) tried the detect and repair, In fact
I uninstalled and reinstalled Office BEFORE posting. The problem is still
there. Any other suggestion?

RIGHT click on a pps file and see what the default action is (it will be in

I'm not sure if I understood what you mean but if I right click on a pps
file the only thing that appears bold is OPEN. So... ????

You may need to unhide file extensions -- otherwise, when you rename a file,
it still gets the PPT extension appended.

I have that. File extensions are unhidden, know how to do that. Problem is
