Hi,
I found the posts on this subject for previosu versions of office very
useful, but is there a function in Powerpoint 2007 that re-sizes an entire
org chart automatically,

I found a button that makes the boxes 'bigger' or 'smaller' but not a
function to auto resize all, retaining the same colour scheme etc etc.

any help or advice would be much appricated.

Did you try expanding the size of the SmartArt object itself? Grab an edge
or a corner of the bounding  box for the diagram and you should be able to
adjust the size of the whole diagram at once.
