I am fairly new, so my question may be easy. I am using custom animation to
bring in a text box "on click." I would like the text box to be removed on
the next click, so the information on the screen won't be so crowded. For
example I cite a reference and then give an excerpt from the passage. On the
next click I want to remove the excerpt and list another point. I can create
another slide without the excerpt, but it seems like the hard way to do it.
Thanks

Double click on the added animation effect. This will bring up the effect
options dialog box. Under "Enhancements", look for After Animation. Click on
the dropdown and select "Hide on Next Mouse Click".

Another way is to remove it using Exit > Disappear effect. If it is in the
form of bulleted text, then duplicating slide is a simpler way.
