Is it possible to record or extract the audio/sound of a PPS file received
by me?

If you have PowerPoint it is.

Open PowerPoint
File Open > pps file
Save As
Save As Type =Web Page (*.html) NOT single page

You will get an html file and a folder containing all dependant files
including the sound file.
