Is it possible to change the layout so that the speaker notes next to the
slides, rather than underneath?
John Wilson - 26 Feb 2008 12:14 GMT
Hi Lindy

You cannot drag these panes around as  you can in some other programs. What
you could try is View tab (Window menu in versions before 2007) > New Window
to get a second copy in a new window then Arrange All

Now adjust one copy to show minimum note space and the other to show maximum
note space. You should end up wth notes alongside the slide.

Thanks John, Good to know there is a way, but can't follow your instructions.
On PP 2003, in view menu there is no 'new window'. What am I doing wrong?

In 2003 it's in the Window Menu not the View tab.

Got that. Have followed your instructions to maximize and minimize, but now
what? How does that convert to notes at side? Is there another step? Thanks.

"Windows>Arrange All" to get the two windows side by side. Now in one window
move the dividing slider to hide the notes pane and in the other make the
notes pane as large as possible and the slide tiny. It's the best you can do
AFAIK.

On the notes pages?  Sure.

Choose View, Master, Notes Master.  You can move the slide image and notes text
placeholder anywhere you like on the page, resize them, etc.

This will affect how the speaker notes *print* ... John's suggestions relate to
how they appear in the normal view as you're working on slides.

It's up to you to ignore one or the other of us.

Don't worry.  We can handle it.  We're used to it.
We're both married to women who have the good sense to ignore us when we
babble.
