PPT '07: Saving file VERY Slow

Hi.

Just switched to PPT '07. File saving a 5mb file took 1.5 minutes.
Seems to save the file twice, based on status bar at bottom of screen.
Is this common? Previous version used to take no longer than 30
seconds. Is the newer version compressing, THEN saving the file? Any
way to decrease save times? I typically have very large files
(10mb-20mb) files.

thanks!

Are you saving as .pptx?
2007 also compresses images on save by default. You can turn this off in

Yes. This happens with .pptx and .ppt files. I will look into changing
default on picture compression. Thanks.

Hi,

also make sure you have a local (not network) printer installed by default.
I've seen Office applications save and then go looking for a printer. Why, I
have no idea.

Are you opening and saving a file from an earlier version of PPT?
If so, it's in compatibility mode and saving back to the earlier version
format; that can be quite slow.

Try forcing it to save the same file as PPT 2007 format and see if that cranks
the speed up a notch or two.
