I have downloaded a posted template that works well except for printing in
color.  Can I restore this 07 version to a fully functioning 03 ppt ?

It should print fine. What's the problem?

The presentation will only print  in greyscale.  Even if I save it as a 97-03
ppt, the same issue.  I convert to pdf and print in colour and the ppt size
balloons to 600+MB from 30MB making printing almost impossible.

I got the template from the MS website.

I'm a little confused. Which version of PPT are you trying to print from? I
think it's 2007, but could you confirm?

Have you gone to Office Button | Print and made sure that "grayscale" or
"pure black and white" is not selected?

Additionally, in Office Button | PPT Options | Advanced, there's an option
to print "high quality." Try checking that box.

You can also try Office Button | Print and then click the Properties button
to open printer properties. Make sure you don't have "draft quality" or
"grayscale" or some such selected somewhere in there.
