How do I add animation before master slide animations?

I have a master bullets slide that is set up with the desired text line
animations.  The text ani works fine on each bullet slide that is created.
But, unlike 2003, I can't seem to be able to add an objects (say, photos) to
the slide and have them animate into the slide BEFORE the bullet text
animation.  In PP 2003, it was simply done by changing the animation order of
objects -- but now the bullet text (a master slide component) is grayed out
in the animation order list so there appears to be no way to bump any
animations ahead of the master slide animation elements.

Can someone tell me if it is still possible to do this, and how?  Thanks much.

Is your animation on the slide master? If so, you need to move it to the
slide. Right-click the greyed-out animation in the animation pane and choose
"copy effects to slide." Then you can reorder as desired.

Oh, duh -- you mentioned your animation's on the master! Okay, so at least I
know I was on the right track. :-)
