Why do the internat hyperlinks in powerpoint 2003 stop working?

I am using powerpoint 2003. I have made an extensive ppt-presentation with
250 pages and lots of links.

Now at the final stage the last links - to pages INSIDE the document - stop
to work. The links may go to wrong pages INSIDE the document and also to
links that I have made to pages on the internet (URL).

Is there any hope to solve this?

There is a limit to the amount of hyperlinks PPT will take. See this
