Hi, I have done a few PowerPoint presentations and they come out great. Now I
like to insert pictures from my personal files. like family pictures but I do
not know how? Does any body knows? Thank you. Gasti.

Try to embed the picture than link the file.

Try Insert Pics for PowerPoint at www.OfficeExpander.com
There is a free demo version. You can insert pictures from folders,
resize all pictures etc...
