I have created color slides and wish to create handouts, which I did. The problem is some of the text in the text boxes is white, but black in others when I print the black and white handouts. I cannot detect any difference in color in the slides themselves. How can I print the slides as handouts so that ALL text is legible. Thank you Helps to know the version. If you View > Greyscale you will be able to see how a greyscale print will come out. You will also have options to change the greyscale print settings. Thank you Go to View | Black and White, then right-click a textbox and choose B/W Settings. Select an appropriate setting there. This doesn't change the color settings, only the B/W and Grayscale print settings. You can also access B/W Settings from the toolbar that pops up when you first go to View | Black and White. This will be handy for changing multiple items at once. Thank > you Thank you for the suggestions. I am using PP 2003. When I click on greyscale view, the text is black, no matter what changes I select under greyscale. The handouts with text are pretty much solid black, even though the slides are legible. I am trying to get a dark background with white text in the handout. Some slides are legible; others are not. I cannot tell what I am doing wrong. If it's text in placeholders, you should switch to the slide master view and then to the grayscale view. Click on the placeholders and then adjust the grayscale settings for them. Do the same for the background. In the meantime, I remembered what I had to do 7 years ago when last working with PowerPoint. I had to change the text/background of the offending slides so the text would show up. It is not a great way to do it, but it worked! Surely there is a way to create slides with text and auto shapes that will print legibly in handouts! Surely? Ah, I think part of the problem is SmartArt and grouped objects. Try using "inverse greyscale" for your setting. It looks pretty good here. I don't understand why Power Point does not provide WYSIWYG when printing slides. But then, there is a LOT I don't understand. :-) I agree. And the B/W in 2007 is especially bad, I think.
