PowerPoint 2007 - Inserted Video Errors - Audio, No Video - vids:M

I have some .avi files on my hard drive that are video clips taken with my
Casio camera on a recent vacation.  I want to insert them into my PowerPoint
2007 slideshow.  Problem is, all I get is audio and an image frame containing
an error message:  Video not abailable, cannot find 'vids:M4S2' decompressor.

I have spent a couple of hours now trying to determine whether the problem
involves codecs missing from my PowerPoint 2007, codecs missing from Windows
Media Player 11, etc.  All attempts to find Microsoft downloads that address
the problem have been futile.

Have any of you encountered this problem?

Head to http://www.awesomebackgrounds.com/powerpointtips.htm and read the
first tip under "workaround bugs and limitations." Basically, try renaming
the file extension to .mpg.

Thanks "Echo S".  Unfortunately, I've already tried the file-extension swap.
WMP 11 popped up with an error.

I think this tutorial will be a help in sorting it out.

Bottom line, you are going to have to convert the video to something the MCI
media player can work with.

Thank you, Austin.  It amazes me that people like you and "Echo" are out
there monitoring these forums when I run into trouble.
