When editing a ppt presentation a tiny colored icon sometimes appears on the
centre of all slides. For instance, when copying and pasting pictures. It
cannot be selected and deleted from a normal slide view. When switched to a
slide show it is still there. It can be selected and deleted from a master
slide view. Can anybody tell me what the thing is, and if there is a way to
prevent it from reappearing?

thank you,

Difficult to say, it is a small rectangular, with a yellow background and
some forms on it in green and a speck of red, all too small to make any
sense. I think it has a code associated with it, as why selected in Master,
one of the options is view code. I will have a closer look at the code.
