After reading those two articles, I realized my question was a little
too general.

Instead, I should have asked this one --

Why doesn't Microsoft provide its users with an easy way to add Flash
files to Powerpoint slides?

Microsoft will take suggestions from its users. So you can get it improved
by posting if you have some suggestions how it should work.
