On the problem machine, go to Help | Check for Updates and install at least
Service Pack 1 for Office 2003.

i now have updated to SP1. when you say "at least", is there another update?
or are you talking using "microsoft update"?

Great, glad to hear it.

As you noticed, there is an SP2 and an SP3 available for Office 2003. SP1
actually fixed the "missing pix" issue. I think 2 and 3 might be cumulative,
